Things tend to slow down here at the 'garage over the summer, shorts are the de rigueur office outfit and "flexible schedules" rule our time there is always a little bit of news rising through the summer heat. So in between catching up with friends and clients for lunch or some after work libations here's a few tidbits of what's going on in our world of hardware and software. But first, before we get to all of those goodies how about some summer reading:
ArchiMAG:
ArchiMAG is the international ArchiCAD Users magazine. The latest issues are only available digitally but we have a number of hard to find back issues in our ArchiCAD Books section.
BIM Books and More:
You did want to know what this whole BIM thing is about didn't you? We've got the titles to help you with that. Granted, some of these may cause a little napping in the beach chair but in between you'll learn a lot. Priced to go in our Architecture & CAD Books section.
And now on to the other news...
Artlantis Render and Studio:
Well if you read our last few posts you know some of the news about the release of Artlantis 4.1 with some new features such as ISO/Shutter Speed, HDRi Backgrounds and optional Maxwell Render Engine. And shortly thereafter all the new Artlantis plug-ins for ArchiCAD, Revit, Vectorworks and SketchUp were released as well. Thats a lot of good news for a hot summer day!
We are also having a "We The People" special in honor of the 4th of July holiday on a few of the Animated People for Artlantis below, good from July 4th to August 15th 2012:
•Animated 3D People for Business 1
•Animated 3D People for Casual 6
•Animated 3D People for Workers 1
And just 'cuz we like little creatures so much we are keeping this one on sale a little longer:
•Lo-Poly Animals for Artlantis
ArchiCAD:
What's happening with ArchiCAD? Well those of you on subscription have probably received your version 16 updates by now and many of you who aren't have been upgrading. Great new features, good times and, oh wait, you might need to update some libraries and add-ons. Here's a few things to think about:
Cadimage Tools:
Besides the fact that these awesome productivity additions are updated for ArchiCAD 16 they are also on sale for 20% off from now until July 31st! Check out our deals on Cadimage tools.
SmartParts:
Don't forget to update your SmartParts libraries or add to your collection:
formZ:
I'm can't say much about version 7.0 yet except it's coming very soon. Stay tuned HERE for updates!
LaCie storage devices:
The folks at LaCie have always been one of our favorite peripheral makers-we started working with them (then d2 see the WIKI article) shortly after we started in 1991 and still have one of the original "Toaster" hard drives designed (and signed) by Philippe Starck.
They still make fantastic quality storage devices with great design (including some Philippe Starck and Neil Poulton designs) in a range from portables hard drives to RAID and NAS devices engineered for server storage volumes and speed. Prices have finally been dropping again this year after last years hard drive availability crisis and we have all of the updated pricing in our LaCie section on CADgarage.
Piranesi:
The Piranesi 6.0.2 upgrade is now available from Informatix updates page together with an updated plugin for Google SketchUp™ 8. A new add-in for Revit® 2013 and new plug-ins for 3ds Max® 2013 and Cinema 4D® R12 have also been released. If you have ArchiCAD you should have the .epx output plug-in installed as part of your ArchiCAD install.
Happy modeling, rendering and summer lounging,
Greg
